Subject: Plan for Coaches and Student-Athletes to Return on Monday, June 8
Good morning all.
Attached and below you will find important information concerning the Monday, June 8 return for coaches and student-athletes. Principals, you have the discretion to start after June 8 (workouts cannot start before Monday, June 8), on the number of days workouts take place and time of day the workouts occur. I suggest, workouts take place in the morning during the time you or other administrators are on campus. I will need a detailed plan from each campus.
As we move forward, you will receive additional information. Please let me know if you have any questions.
After careful review of the Texas Education Agency (TEA), University Interscholastic League (UIL) and National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) guidelines/recommendations, here are some questions and answers to guide you to a successful Monday, June 8 return for all coaches and athletes. The TEA, UIL and NFHS guidelines/recommendations information packets are attached. I have also attached a sign in sheet to be used daily by coaches and athletes (NFHS packet- page 16). Please note- because the sign-in sheet ask for student symptoms, the nurse would have to maintain control of this list.
SCREENING PROCESS – DAILY
- BEFORE Arriving to Facility – Every student will have filled out screening questionnaire on their phone. If a student answers “YES” on any question they will stay at home and call their coach to let them know.

Restrooms –
Student-athletes needing to use the restroom during workouts will enter the building through the door designated by the campus principal. This will be the same entry point used for administrators and staff. Student-athletes MUST go to the restroom one at a time and are required to wash their hands before exiting the restroom. Other than restrooms, locker room use is not allowed for any reason.
Hydration –
Water MUST be provided for student athletes. Highly recommend student-athletes to bring their own individual labeled water bottles. They are prohibited from sharing water bottles. If a student-athlete needs a refill, there must be a cooler/container filled with water and ice available at several stations spaced 10ft. apart where a staff member (masked and gloved) can refill the students’ bottles upon request. If a student did not bring their own water, the staff member would be there to fill cups or bottles of water make available by the campus.
Please read and follow the Positive Cases and Staff or Students Showing COVID Symptoms section for anyone showing signs of COVID-19.
ALL WORKOUT ARE VOLUNTARY!!!!
